Join the SAAC Board of Directors

Do you love animals and want to prevent them from ending up in area shelters? Join the Sacramento Area Animal Coalition Board of Directors and help eliminate pet overpopulation through low-cost spay/neuter programs.

Ideal candidates are proactive, self-motivated, collaborative, able to work independently, and comfortable using computers and Internet technology.

The Sacramento Area Animal Coalition is 100 percent volunteer run with no paid staff. We are a “working board” and directors take an active role in shaping policies, running programs, raising funds, and building relationships with area animal shelters. Board directors do not engage in hands-on animal care as part of their duties.

Board members should be able to devote at least 10 hours per month to board activities, mostly working independently.

We are in particular need of people with the following skills:

  • Accounting and bookkeeping
  • Fundraising
  • Legal
  • Organizational leadership
  • Program administration
  • Public relations
  • Salesforce CRM
  • Social media and digital marketing
  • Veterinary clinic experience


Requirements

  • Be at least age 18
  • Attend monthly board meetings
  • Commit to a three-year term
  • Have easy access to computer with an Internet connection
  • Take an active role in the annual Spay Day event
  • Participate in at least one additional committee, taking an active role in program management and operations
  • Support fundraising efforts
  • Support board member and volunteer recruitment and orientation

Time Commitment

Board members should be able to devote at least 10 hours per month to board activities, mostly working independently.
