On
the last Sunday in February, hundreds of Sacramento
area volunteers join together to spay
and neuter up to 1,000 dogs and cats. These
surgeries are offered for a small payment to the
area's neediest families.
Since 2000, more than
4,000 dogs and cats have been altered on Spay Day Sacramento,
preventing the births of thousands of unwanted animals
and reducing the burden on area shelters.
How
You Can Help:
- Donate. SAAC receives no government funding and relies
100 percent on private donations to offer Spay Day
and other low-cost spay/neuter programs.
- Volunteer. We
rely on volunteers for a variety
of tasks prior
to and on Spay Day. If you want to help needy
families and help reduce the number of unwanted
animals in the Sacramento area by volunteering
for Spay Day, please email
us.
- Become
a sponsor. We
are always looking for organizations that want to
support Spay Day. Sponsors
get promotional opportunities on Spay Day publicity
materials. To
find out more about Spay Day sponsorship, please email
us. See the list of our Spay Day 2009
sponsors below.
- Provide
spay/neuter surgeries. Veterinary
clinics and animal shelters in Sacramento, Yolo and
Placer Counties donate their time and talent to make
Spay Day a success. If your clinic would like to
volunteer for this important community event, please email
us. See
the list of our Spay Day 2009 participating clinics
