SAAC is currently offering vouchers for residents of Sacramento City, Sacramento County and West Sacramento only.

If you don't live in one of these areas, click here
for other low-cost spay/neuter options.

ALSO NOTE: The SAAC Voucher Program is for female cats and large dogs only (45 pounds or more). NO SMALL DOG VOUCHERS WILL BE ISSUED.

SAAC vouchers are for low-income families. These vouchers may be used for female cats or large dogs only (pit bulls and pit mixes included). They are funded by grants and donations and are distributed as funds are available.

$10 co-pay for cats (female cats only)
$15 for co-pay for dogs (large dogs only, 45 pounds or more)

Guidelines:

  • Household income must be $35,000 per year or less
  • Limit four vouchers per family
  • Animals must be between 3 months and 7 years of age
  • No feral cats (click here for help with spaying and neutering feral cats)
  • Vouchers are only available for female cats and large dogs (45 pounds or more)
  • Pregnant cats can be spayed. Your veterinarian will determine if it is safe for the animal's health
    Call (916) 808-SPAY (7729) and
leave a message to request a voucher.
A volunteer will return your call to obtain your information and determine if you qualify.

You can also apply for vouchers with our online application form.

How the voucher program works:
  • Vouchers will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Proof of low-income status is required.
  • You will be given a voucher to present at a participating veterinary clinic within 30 days.
  • Your co-payment is $10 for each cat and $15 for each dog.
